I am still helping the March of Dimes this year and went to visit Detroit today. It was great to spend the day with the Ford Motor Company. First stop was at the Henry Ford Museum and I was able to see the Rosa Park’s bus. I even sat in the same seat she sat in to change history. I know people who help the March of Dimes are changing history too! Then it was off to the Rouge Factory. Wow, it was really big! Viists with all the wonderful people at Ford who are working on the March for Babies, a great tour of the factory where they make F-150 trucks and then I was able to sit in one of the brand new trucks. My favorite color was red! It was a great day with my friends at Ford!!
December has been a busy month for me at school and getting ready for Christmas. We have done many fun things, Michael’s band concert, visiting St. Nick and baking cookies with Mommy and Grandma. I also went to a great concert, the Philly Pops with the von Trapp children. I have known the von Trapp children since I was a little baby and it was so wonderful to see them again singing such beautiful music. I also went to see the Nutcracker and The Christmas Carol, both of these shows were terrific too. I hope I can dance in a show like that one day!
It is only a couple of days until Christmas and I am so excited. I told St. Nick when I saw him that “whatever he would like to bring me for Christmas would be just great.” I hope all of your holiday wishes come true too, from the tiniest to the biggest!!
My family and I wish you a wonderful and blessed season! Thank you everyone for working so hard in 2008 to give every baby a healthy start!
Love,
Catharine

On Friday, my family and I attended the Harvest Ball in New Jersey. I had princess hair and wore a tiara and a pretty dress. The ball was beautiful. There were so many toys in the silent auction. I wanted the Barbie and my brother Michael wanted the Ipod touch. One of the most fun parts of the evening was meeting Mackie Brooks. She was the National Ambassador for the March of Dimes in 2000, and is now 15 years old. Another fun part of the evening was dancing with my family. Then I got really tired because it was late. We had a fun time!
We just got back from Detroit, MI, where spent time with March of Dimes supporters from the UAW, Chrysler, Ford, and GM. First we presented an award to the UAW Region 1A for raising more money for the March of Dimes than any other region in the country. Then we went to the UAW headquarters to tell our story and say thank you to the leaders at UAW, Chrysler, Ford and GM for working so hard and continuing to support March for Babies. In the evening, my brother and I played at Jungle Java, where we met other family teams and thanked them for their hard work.
I had a super time at the NY Giants Stadium with my big brother Michael. We were able to tour the stadium and run on the field like the Superbowl Champion NY Giants. It was awesome!! Then we visited the press box and some of the other places in the stadium. The best part of the day was saying thank you to all of our PSEG friends - all the award winners care so much for the babies and I had a lot of fun shaking hands and handing out the nice awards!
Today is my first day of kindergarten. The bus will pick me up at 7:20am. I go to the same school as Michael now. We ride the bus together. Last night I tried on my uniform. It’s fun to wear. I told my mom that I’m growing up. She hopes not too fast. I’m looking forward to making new friends and telling everyone about how fun it is to volunteer with the March of Dimes.
I had a such a fun summer. I swam in our pool almost every day, and spent a lot of time at my grandparents’ cabin. My brother Michael and I swam in the lake at their house. We also went to the zoo. I saw tigers and elephants. Last week I threw out the first pitch at the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs baseball game. My whole family went. I met the pig mascot and had my picture up on the big screen. They also put the March of Dimes logo on the screen. Below are the photos!
