My dad, brother and I went to Atlanta for the National Youth Conference. My mom had to work so she couldn’t go. It’s the first time we went anywhere overnight without her. I missed her, but we had fun. We first went to the Atlanta Medical Center to tour the NICU. We met Kerry Strugg there. She is a March of Dimes volunteer. Kerry won a gold medal at the Olympics for gymnastics. I was so excited when she gave me a signed photo.
Kerry took the tour of the NICU with us and members from the March of Dimes National Youth Council. The Youth Council collected baby clothes from all of the youth who came to the conference, and they donated the clothes to the NICU.
We went to a restaurant called The Varsity and had really good onion rings. At the Youth Conference, we played Family Feud. I got to say – and back to the board. We also spoke on stage, and thanked the youth volunteers for their involvement in the March of Dimes. Their hard work helps to save babies. They are all very nice.
